The full review
MoMA's permanent collection on the fifth floor is one of the densest concentrations of canonical modern paintings anywhere — Starry Night, The Persistence of Memory, Demoiselles d'Avignon, Number 31 by Pollock, all within a few rooms of each other. The temporary exhibitions on the lower floors are worth as much time as the permanent collection.
Fridays after 4 PM are free for everyone but extremely crowded; weekday mornings are the best time to see the masterpieces without a phone in front of every one of them.
