The full review

The architecture is intentional: visitors descend three levels into the History Galleries and then ascend back to the cultural galleries above. The history portion — slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, civil rights — takes most visitors 2–3 hours by itself.

Timed entry passes are still required and the most popular times release at 8:15 AM thirty days ahead. Same-day passes appear at 8:15 AM the day-of and disappear within minutes.
